The Operating Room (OR) at Tarlac Medical Center is a highly specialized surgical unit designed for the safe and efficient performance of operative procedures in a sterile environment. Our OR complex supports a wide range of surgeries, from general procedures to specialized operations including hybrid operating room cases and C-section surgeries.
Skilled Nursing and Support Staff
Our operating room nurses play a crucial role in assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists, ensuring patient safety and smooth procedural flow. The nurses are trained to handle all aspects of perioperative care, from preoperative preparation to post-anesthesia recovery.
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Adjacent to the OR, the PACU provides continuous monitoring for patients recovering from anesthesia. Skilled personnel are present to detect and manage any early complications, ensuring a safe recovery before patients are transferred to other hospital units.
OR Complex Location and Structure
The Operating Room complex is located on the second floor, alongside the Labor Room, Delivery Room, High Risk Pregnancy Unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Its design allows efficient patient flow and easy access to ancillary services such as X-ray, laboratory, and patient wards.
The complex consists of six rooms:
- Surgical Room – for general surgeries
- Ophthalmic Surgery Room
- PACU
- High Risk Pregnancy Unit & Labor Room
- Delivery Room
- NICU, adjacent to the Delivery Room
Each room is equipped with piped oxygen, scrubbing areas, sterile supply rooms, and autoclave facilities. The OR complex also features a central nursing station and separate male and female dressing areas.
