Routine Plain X-Ray Procedures

Routine radiographic examinations are performed to assess bones, organs, and soft tissues for injury, disease, or abnormalities.

  • Abdomen – Evaluates possible fecal retention, foreign bodies, bowel ileus, and obstruction
  • Babygram – Radiographic examination for infants to check congenital anatomic abnormalities
  • Chest / Lungs – Detects chest infections, tuberculosis, and other thoracic pathologies
  • Facial Bones – Assesses facial fractures
  • Hip and Pelvis – Evaluates joint diseases and fractures
  • Lower Extremities – Includes ankle, foot, knee, leg, thigh, and toe
  • Pelvimetry – Assesses pelvic measurements and effects on the method of birth
  • Rib Cage – Evaluates possible rib fractures
  • Scoliosis Series – Analyzes spinal alignment
  • Sinuses – Rules out acute or chronic sinusitis
  • Skull – Evaluates fractures, inflammation, swelling, or tumors
  • Upper Extremities – Includes arm, elbow, finger, forearm, hand, shoulder, and wrist
  • Vertebral Column – Includes cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine, sacrum, and coccyx

Special Radiographic Procedures

(Contrast Enhanced Examinations)

These procedures use contrast media to improve visualization of internal organs and structures.

  • Barium Enema – Examines the large colon for changes in bowel movement, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, or blood in the stool
  • Cystogram – Evaluates the bladder in cases of dysfunctional voiding, obstruction, hematuria, congenital anomalies, or post operative assessment
  • Esophagogram – Assesses swallowing difficulties caused by narrowing, ulcers, cancer, or obstruction
  • Hysterosalpingography – Evaluates the female reproductive system, commonly requested for infertility assessment
  • Intraoperative Cholangiography – Examines the biliary tract during surgery for gallstones or duct abnormalities
  • Intravenous Pyelography – Highlights the kidneys and urinary tract to detect structural irregularities
  • Retrograde Pyelography – Imaging of kidneys, ureters, and bladder for tumors, stones, clots, or strictures
  • T-Tube Cholangiography – Visualizes bile ducts and gallbladder following biliary surgery
  • Upper Gastrointestinal and Small Bowel Series – Studies the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine to assess motility, inflammation, scarring, or obstruction
  • Urethrogram – Examines the urethra for trauma, strictures, obstruction, diverticula, or suspected tumors

  • Chest Ultrasound – Assesses lungs, mediastinum, and pleural space
  • Endocavitary Ultrasound – Transrectal pelvic, transrectal prostate, transvaginal or endovaginal examinations
  • Kidney, Ureters, and Urinary Bladder (KUB) – Includes prostate, scrotal, and routine pelvic studies
  • Neonatal Transcranial Ultrasound – Brain imaging for infants with open fontanelles
  • Neck, Thyroid, and Parathyroid Ultrasound – Evaluates thyroid gland and lymph nodes
  • Soft Tissue Ultrasound – Examines cysts, abscesses, infections, and lymph nodes
  • Whole Abdomen Ultrasound – Assesses abdominal organs including liver, pancreas, kidneys, uterus, and bladder
  • OB Gyne Ultrasound – Monitors pregnancy and evaluates gynecologic conditions safely

Ultrasound Guided Interventional Procedures

  • Paracentesis – Diagnostic and therapeutic removal of abdominal fluid
  • Percutaneous Biopsy – Tissue sampling of abdominal, kidney, liver, thyroid, or retroperitoneal masses
  • Thoracentesis – Removal of excess pleural fluid to relieve breathing difficulty
  • Ultrasound Guided Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy – Removal of large kidney or upper ureteral stones
